Boundaries
This work employs the arbitrary subdivision of geometric blocks to pose a philosophical challenge to the many ruptures and boundaries that characterize contemporary society. The way each block’s size and its dividing lines fluctuate according to random numbers suggests that the boundaries and fractures within human communities are not always the result of clear intent or rational design; at times they are shaped by chance and unforeseeable forces.
Symbolically, the piece addresses the invisible demarcations people draw between themselves and others, the splits produced by social inequality and prejudice, and even the psychological or emotional fragmentation within the individual. By witnessing the intersection of contingency and necessity inside the artwork, viewers may become aware of their own hidden biases and preconceptions, as well as the absurdities and contradictions embedded in society at large.
Ultimately, the work invites the audience to consider the ambiguity of boundaries and to reflect on their significance and impact, offering a profound exploration of division from social and philosophical perspectives.
